Austen's blog
Austen Collins Post
I just finished the Austen Collins Post site. I needed a web presence with more eye candy for my editing business. I get most of my work off of job-posting websites like craigslist and mandy. And given the state of the economy, those websites are starting to resemble the over-fished pond. Meaning, crowds of editors lurking around, cooped up in their flimsy aluminum boats while trying to lure in minnows, and everyone seems to be running out of beer... Tough times.

POP Bits
I'm adding some bits from the introductions segment of Proof or Propaganda. It was a frenetic scramble trying to do motion graphics for a two hour film with only two people and a few weeks time. Fortunately, I had John Schaller on my team. Once, I saw him fall asleep on the couch, sitting upright. He was snoring for over an hour, cradling his laptop and slipping murmurs about his ex-girlfriend. When he woke up, he pretended nothing had happened and said, "Alright, these graphics are all finished." It was hilarious. These are some of my favorite results from that period of time.
Facelift
Just altered the graphics on the site. I think I'm going for something in between "less is more" and "I see the light!" I don't really know... It's that deep.
Went to Europe
Arrived in Athens, hopped around the Greek Islands, took a boat up to Venice, flew into the France (provence), drove up to La Baule (still France), flew to New York, flew back to France, flew to London, flew to Germany, flew home.
At each location I typed up a pilot for a television show. And just recently finished.

Now I'm condensing it and turning it into a web series. More on that to come.
Proof or Propaganda
For the first half of 2008, I worked on a documentary entitled "Proof or Propaganda". POP is one of the first doc's to carry an optimistic message on the colossal climate change problem. Featuring top science and business people, elaborating on how this has the potential to be the biggest opportunity for economic growth since the dawn of the internet.
Pretty interesting. Especially if you're a young person like me and you have to live here a lot longer than those, "other people". POP goes well with the color green and Thomas Friedman's "Hot, Flat, and Crowded".
Clips in the Video Section
Rare Gem
King Elementary
A minor facelift and a new clip. Not too long ago, I met a rock band from Mississippi calling themselves “King Elementary”. They are around my age and interesting. I think I am mostly drawn to them because our lives have similar circumstances. Being on the verge of releasing their biggest album yet, I started following them around with my camera. I’m curious because I’ve never really been a part of anything like this. I’m uploading occasional clips so you can be a part of it too, without that watered-down MTV brain frying style. http://www.austencollins.com/videokejimsong.html
Scene from Sunset Boulevard
I just added my interpretation of a scene from Sunset Boulevard to the video list. The direct link to it is right here http://www.austencollins.com/video/sunsetboulevardsmall.mov I have spent the last few weeks trying to write my thesis film. I am going to spend the least amount of money possible to make this short so, I am writing the story around things that are accessible. Unfortunately, this is a lot harder then I imagined it would be. The wall of writer's block is gargantuan, but I will bang my head against that wall until it falls...
New Layout
My last layout's news system was pretty vulnerabe to the evil forces of spam bots so I had to upgrade. I was excited that I had recieved a hundred plus comments until I realized they were just links to male enhancement products. That plus a period of neglected maintenance puts this domain escapade off to a great start. Beware the video button may self destruct!
